ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, conducted a training programme
on “Enhancing Yield of Kharif Crops through Scientific Farming Approaches” at Chumoukedima on 13th August 2026.
The programme focused on creating awareness among farmers about improved
and scientific crop production practices for enhancing the productivity and profitability of kharif crops. Dr. Bendangla
Imsong, Chief Technical Officer (Plant Breeding), emphasized the importance of selecting suitable and improved crop varieties,
timely sowing, proper plant population, balanced nutrient management, and adoption of recommended agronomic practices for achieving
higher crop yields. She also encouraged farmers to adopt improved technologies and scientific approaches suited to the local agro-climatic conditions.
A total of 38 farmers participated in the training programme. To encourage the
adoption of improved technologies and promote diversified vegetable cultivation, vegetable seed kits were distributed among the
participating farmers.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which farmers
actively participated and sought technical guidance on kharif crop production and vegetable cultivation. The programme aimed
to strengthen farmers’ technical knowledge and encourage the adoption of scientific agricultural practices for improved productivity
and sustainable farm livelihoods.
